After Chiapas, a 12 hours night bus ride to La ciudad de Mexico, or Mexico, DF...
Big city! And what a bus station... I have right away a good impression of this city when I get in the metro. Somebody is stealing my notebook out of my pocket. Luckily, I feel what he his doing and when I ask him 'Hej, Amigo' he drops the notebook and looks as innocent as a sheep. I think they work in groups, like five of them, they come and stand around you in the already busy train, pushing you in a corner, suggesting they don't know each other, Et Voila! there goes your money! Good it was only my notebook, and good I noticed, but I am more prepared now!
I stay in the hotel Moneda right in the center of town near the 'Zocalo', the huge market near Mexico's Cathedral. It's the kind of hostel you find everywhere in the world, with same kind of young travellers from north America, Europe, and Australia... Interesting to meet people and to share travel experiences, but unfortunately not good to meet local people and to practice Spanish... I guess the best way to travel is to try a little bit of everything... What is no option is staying in hotels where you meet nobody, no locals and no travellers...this only makes you feel lonely and depressed!
The Frida Kahlo museum is a little museum in the bario Coyoacan witch is really interesting to visit.
Mexico city is however not a place where you want to stay for more than a couple of days. The pollution is not only annoying, but if also effects your breathing and like a runny nose, headache, and pain in your chest are too serious to ignore.
Up to Veracruz, I want to spend the last days of my stay in the Americas by the sea... Veracruz is a nice harbor and navy town at the golf of Mexico, but I think it's still to busy. I decide to go to Chachalacas a little village 30 km north of Veracruz. It's a weird place with lots of hotels and restaurants but no tourists!
