I am on my way to Cabo de Gata from Granada. I, as usual, didn't do diligent enough research and so ended up in Almeria with a 4 hour layover. Normally I would be ecstatic about this as that is plenty of time to drop my bags at the station, roam around on a city bus and get a feel for one more Spanish city. However. Almeria doesn't believe in baggage drops at the station. In an "I am Josie. I am American." moment, I walked to a hotel to leave my bags there. No. Neither being Josie nor American helped me.

Rather than just going back to the train station and sitting there for four hours, I stopped in a little Argentinian restaurant. Knowing Gaby, I was well versed in the fact that I should check the menu before sitting down. The Argentinians (and Uruguayans, who really fed Argentina everything their famous for, right Gaby?) are big meat eaters. But, they had pasta on the menu. Hurray.

The waiter was an older guy that found it amusing he had an American vegetarian in his Argentinian restaurant in Spain. I had some delicious vegetable soup and pasta. And after one glass of Rioja (typical Spanish wine) he suggested I instead drink the 'good stuff' some Syrah wine from Argentina. I am now on my 3rd glass of wine, my bag has been 'dropped' by my side for 2 hours and my friendly waiter, who also lived in Rhode Island for several years, snuck me the wifi passcode for the restaurant's office.

Life is good.

OF COURSE Argentinians would say their wine is better than Spanish wine. Even in Spain. They just can't help themselves lol.
