Today we headed to Monaco to check out the beautiful coastline and see what else it had to offer. It reminded us of the hills of Santa Barbara very much. Lots of multi-million dollar homes on a mountain-side overlooking the water. Very nice! We saw a nice little town called Eze Village, the Formula One Grand Prix Raceway, the actual Monte Carlo Casino (not to be mistake for the one in Vegas), and a perfume factory. All were great! Tomorrow we head out on the EuroRail for Florence. It will be a long day! More to come.
Nice is a small town in Southern France on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is just a couple of miles up the coast from Cannes, where the big film festival is held. We spent the first full day here hanging out on the beach called Lido Plage. The water was very nice and warm, but the beaches were full of big rocks and no sand. So it wasn't as nice laying on the beach as say in California, where there are nice sandy beaches. We ended up spending about $50 renting beach chairs and an umbrella for the day. Expensive? Oh yes. Worth it?.......... Yes, I guess. It was better than napping on the beach with what seemed like half of El Capitan lodged in the small of our backs. Traveling through Europe, we have learned to ignore the elephant in the room, the elephant being that we are getting ROBBED every time we breathe in or open our eyes. Ignoring it makes it all okay.
