So left Kuala Lumpur and headed for the craziness of Bangkok.  I had a decent hotel room on Khao San Road, which is where most of the backpacker places are - I actually got a sweet hotel room for a super decent price - my OWN bathroom!  Quite the luxury after KL.  I wandered around quite a bit, had some awesome street pad thai and saw a few of the temples.  Bangkok was only more humid than Singapore or KL, and so I relaxed a fair bit too.  I must admit, I probably slept in way too much but it was a nice rest up!  I was there for two nights and then headed north to Chiang Mai!

Chiang Mai was quite a slower pace than Bangkok.  It's a much smaller city, although still a bit smoggy.  I booked in to a cute little guesthouse and had GREAT plans of elephants riding, touring and doing all SORTS of activities!  Then, my first night, I met this french guy Alex and Aussie Andrew and ended up drinking with them every night.  WAYYY too much booze as usual, but it ended up interrupting most of my plans.  It ended up that I chilled out most of the time, but had some great nights out and got too meet some of the locals (as you can see from some of the pictures - Thailand has an interesting and 'diverse' population!).

I DID, however, manage to have some clothes made - a nice charcoal suit, a sports jacket, pants and a shirt and she threw in a bunch of ties for good measure.  I'm quite certain I got completely scammed and ripped off, but the clothes looked good and fit well, so here's hoping when they get shipped home!!

It's actually quite sad to say I don't have much else to report - Chiang Mai ended up being a rather blurry state of affairs, but I DID have a blast and met some great people, so I s'pose it all equals out in the end!  Now I'm off to Phuket to meet up with Ewa, a friend from McGill (she made an appearance in my Singapore entry) and her friend Kristina - should be a blast!  YAY Thai Airways for having direct flights!!
