Waking up, filling up the tank and having some breakfast takes us less than half an hour, so we start our route to Canyonlands early. We are only visiting one of the sections of this huge park, Island in The Sky. First stop at the Ranger's hut to buy our Nationals Parks Pass (80$), which will permit our entrance to all National Parks. There is not a lot of people here, so the roads are quite empty. A brief entrance to the Visitor Center, which is more a souvenir shop than an information post.
The landscape here is quite typical from western films, rocks, sand, canyons, poor vegetation... A slight route with the car is all we need to catch the whole place, so we leave early for our next stop: Dead Horse Point State Park. We have to pay here, because it is not a National park, it is ruled by the State, and although the views are nice, the visit is not worth.
So we leave this park and head to Arches NP, but our stomachs are beginning to ask for some lunch... Catching the road again, we head Moab, among beautiful views of the incredible landscape in this part of USA. We stop almost at the entrance of arches for a delicious meal at Denny's, and after that, we get into this nice "little" park. More than 2000 natural arches, caused by erosion, in many positions, different sizes... spectacular. We take hundreds of pictures, and have some short hikes, but the sky is turning grey, and a big storm is coming. We are exhausted of walking, and get inside the car right when it starts raining, and go to our motel for a nice rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day...
