Holy Crap. I never did update on my latest little road trip.
- My bank/credit cards all sorted themselves out in time
- After deliberation, I remembered that I actually like travelling on buses, that $300+ for a one-way flight to NYC was not reasonable, and neither was a 14 hour train that only left once per day at 9am.
I know now that:
- I definitely prefer overnight buses in South America to those in North America. Or maybe I've come full circle on the backpacker thing. I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.
- When crossing borders by bus, officials can be more suspicious than when doing so in a car or plane.
- Often is a relative term. Apparently my records show that I come to the US "all the time". A 1/2 dozen times would be a generous estimate of the number of times I've crossed the border in the past 18 months. One of those times I didn't even show my passport... There are people that go back and forth that many times in a week.
- Shopping for boots in NY is as big a pain in the ass as it is in Bogota, Toronto or any other city. And one of the things I loathe most in the world.
- I can get my photo on Joey's blog if I make funny faces at Jimmy.
- The Cloisters Museum is quite the cab ride from Lower East Side.
- With all the restaurants in NY, I've been fed fried chicken from here on two very seperate visits by totally different people
- Atlantic City it totally freaken weird.
- The Taj Mahal is totally freaken weird.
- The Barenaked Ladies do wonderful things for WWF-Canada.
- Jimmy thinks my hair is hilarious. I think his is short.
