That afternoon I had my first instance (of many in this trip) of struggling to find a particular place or people. There was a period of about five stressful hours in which my host in Porto, José Martins, and I struggled to meet each other. I would have a number of such instances as Satan was really attempting to destroy the success of this trip, but God always intervened.

I observed the Sabbath on April 4 in the home of José Martins, who is a long-standing member, and his family, namely his wife, Rosa Maria, and their son, Zélito. José Martins has an inoperable heart condition, and his wife is struggling with health. José is one of the few laborers that we do have in the Portuguese language and has been very helpful in the translation and review of United Church of God booklets into Portuguese. I appreciated his labor of love and their gracious hospitality.
