I know it's been a while but any chance I've had to get on the net has
been taken up with sorting out uni stuff! I've been bandied around
different tutors and different departments and it's taken a while but I
finally think I'm sorting things out. I found out I failed the year by
4 marks...in two modules I had 38. How much does that suck!?!?! But I
think it was a good thing, after speaking with one particularly awesome
guy, the head of admissions in Politics, I think I've decided upon the
path I wish to take. I told him about wanting to do PPE when I first
applied for uni, and having gained an A level in Maths he told me that
I'm more than qualified to switch courses from Law and Politics to
Politics and Economics. He did warn me that some of the economics
modules are mathematically based, but I've actually missed doing stuff
like that! His last words were "Don't Despair. Shit Happens." Which
I've taken to heart and am now embracing camp life fully. I'm so
excited at the prospect of changing courses and starting again as a
first year, he did say I'd probably have the option of going into
second year straight politics if I wanted to resit, but I enjoyed
economics so much at A level that I'd love to carry on with it, I just
didn't realise they did it at Cardiff!! I've emailed my tutors at Law
and Politics telling them what's going on, I'm waiting for an email
from the Economics' admissions tutor as I emailed him asking for advice
and whether or not I'd be accepted onto the course shou;d I wish to
change. It's something I'm set on doing now, a fresh start, with new
people and a clean slate, subjects I really enjoy. I'm not settling for
second best, I don't need a law degree should I wish to join the police
force and by the time I started my course I was putoff the idea of
becoming a solicitor or barrister. I can't wait for the guy to email me
back, I'm really excited!

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm enjoying myself now. I've had all
my downs, at least I hope I have, and been tested enough. I can't give
myself any more reasons to leave. Some times are hard but that's just
life at the end of the day, and the plus points are definately making
up for any hard moments. I've done quite a lot this week, we watched
the youngest age group do their play which was....interesting...and
I've been stuck in a lot of thunderstorms. We had an all camp dance
party last night with a disco and karaoke, which I think us counselors
enjoyed more than the kids, we were dancing like nutters!! After that
the counselors who had nights off went to see the new Harry Potter
film, it was alright like, got a bit confused and kept having to ask
everyone who the characters were and what was going on, but it was nice
to do something different! Still wanna go see Transformers though...and
Alvin and the Chipmunks is out soon....with Jason Lee as the star!!!!
I'll probably go to the cinema over the weekend if the thunderstorms
decide to come back, today we woke up to beautiful blue skies and
awesome sun, which is good cos I thought I'd have to go on the sunbeds
before I came back in case you didn't believe I'd been away! Tonight a
few of us are going over to Harrison for the Old Home Days...it's a
week long carnival with rides and icecream and the like so that should
be fun, look forward to scoffing loads of icecream. Talkingn of
scoffing, it's the junior campfire tonight...I get to try Smores for
the first time! I'll give you my verdict next time I write!

And my package arrived today....just been munching my way through a Chomp now....cheers Mum it's awesome!!!
