well, after my 5 days in panajachel tryin to lose the belly, i head back out on the road again to a town in central guatemala called coban. coban itself is crap, its a cold, grey town with sod all to do, but its the base where you set off to semuc champey. semuc is hard to describe giving it justice. it is basically a naturally formed limestone bridge, that is above caves with the river coban or something passing though it. on the 300metre long bridge has formed beautiful turquise pools and waterfalls and islands that i went swimmin in and jumpin off the ledges and waterfalls etc. it was quality. we scaled down one big waterfall on a rope ladder and penetrated the cave underneath, slidin alond wet stalagtites etc with the river ragin like fuck right next to us. dodgy as buggery but quality to do and see.

so, left there after my day tour up to a town called flores in northern guatemala. from flores you take tours to one of the best ruined sites of the mayan world, tikal. the place was amazing to see. i climbed the highest tower, temple 4 at 74metres high, after a fuckin scary half hour trek on me own through the jungle, to see the tops of the other temples and pyramids pokin there heads out above the dense jungle in the distance. it was a proper indiana jones shot, but my fuckin batteries ran out on my camera and i didnt have the brains to bring spares.

so, pissed off wi mysen i were determined to nash home and sulk wi a bottle of rum. wen i came across the central plaza and the quality temple 1 i saw this dude floggin shit out of a camera bag. i managed to get a coupla beterys off him and was pleased as piss and got snappin away again.
