Titirangi is such a different place to live, I can not think of the words to describe it.  Generally folk here seem to be happy and content with their lives and themselves and enjoy life to the full.

This weekend Titirangi plays host to its yearly music festival, with a wide range of bands/groups/individuals entertaining the crowds.

As we had never experienced this event before, we were unsure if it was going to be suitable for Lucy and Dan, so had not really planned to visit.  However we happened to make a visit to the local library and for a quick coffee on opening night and came across part of the main street of Titirangi which had been transformed into a stage!  Out of curiousity, we decided to hang around, partly due to the interesting instruments being wheeled out on to the stage and partly due to the gathering crowds!  We witnessed something which we thought was wonderful. Try the video to see what you think!  Please excuse the quality, we had to film it on Jeff's phone as we had not gone prepared!

No where else have I seen people of all shapes, sizes and ages dancing in the street, as though high on something!  Aging hippies, trendy business types, house wives, workmen, children ....... Some had no inhibitions at all and were quite happy to 'feel' the beat.  A lady magically transformed to some far off place, a middle aged chap bouncing up and down like an African hunter, then of course the children who just don't care.  We loved it :-)

Lucy and Dan loved it too.  They were mesmorized by the sounds, a range of complicated rhythms which some how came together and sounded great.  We still have no idea how they managed to do it without getting lost and confused, some didn't even look down to see which notes they were hitting!  Titirangi had been transformed and we had stumbled across it!
