An early start, as was expected with a very excited Daniel and Lucy jumping on our bed!  They sat on our bed and opened up the presents that we had secretly bought and carried since Disney World!  Dan was over the moon with everything and then became even more excited when Emily and Issy arrived with more presents.

Breakfast consisted of pancakes and maple syrup which went down well with everyone.  They are usually savoured on Sunday mornings, but because of the special event there was a change of routine.

After breakfast we took Dan off to Albany Shopping Centre to spend money from Nan & Grandad, Grandma & Papa and also Uncle Les, whilst Lucy stayed at 'home.'  Larissa and Emily made a wonderful cake for Dan in the shape of a panda - thank you so much :-)

Daniel had a ball, just as he would have done in Toys R Us if we were in the UK.  First he wanted this, then he wanted that.  Eventually after visiting 3 different shops he settled on a huge Viking lego set as well as some over sized bugs.  He was very happy on the journey back to the house.

After lunch Jeff headed off to work to collect his uniform and get any general information that he would need for Monday.

As soon as he came back we made our way to Climb Zone for an afternoon of climbing (for Daniel, Lucy, Daddy, Issy and Emily.)  Daniel and Lucy had such a fantastic time at Clip and Climb last year that they have spent much of the last year talking about it.  Climb Zone is based on the same concept but once you have paid you can stay as long as you like.  The children loved it and spent a good couple of hours climbing, with a short beak in the middle for birthday cake and drinks.

After Climb Zone it was a quick visit back 'home' before heading off for pizza at a new restaurant down the road.  It was so lovely that Larissa, Maureen, Alan and James made such an effort for Dan's birthday, as obviously we were the least organised on the birthday front that we have ever been.  It was so very much appreciated.  Pizza went down very well, and then was followed by icecream at a little shop down the road.  Dan was chuffed to have chocolate icecream with candles in it and all of the children were excited to have a little plastic animal sitting on top of their icecream along with a little umbrella!

We had all eaten so much that we walked back with Daniel while Lucy grabbed a lift with Larissa.  It was lovely to walk in the mild weather and chat to Dan about the day that he had had.

Happy 5th Birthday Daniel xxxx

Re: Happy Birthday Daniel
Lovely to hear from you. Life is a little strange at the moment to say the least but am sure once we get a house sorted and a little more familiar with our surroundings then we will feel better.

Am getting to grips with a bus system for the first time since being a student as the car isn't here until Friday and I won't drive our friends car! Been to the cinema today and now back in Ponsonby and the sun is shining - yeah :-)

Missing you all.

With love
The Parkys xxxx
