Where I stayed
Holiday Inn Express Meadowlands
Vinny was there as promised and we were soon at the airport and bags were checked in. Security was tight as we had expected and as usual I set off the machine. The lady kept telling me that I had to take my bracelet off and I kept telling her I couldn't. I ended up having a very thorough search but it was all very re-assuring.
Due to the queues for going through security it wasn't long before we got on the plane. There were lots of spare seats on the flight so Dan managed to spread out and have a couple of hours sleep. Lucy was happy to play but then decided to go to sleep just before we landed
The journey to our hotel was an interesting one................the taxi driver was absolutely fine driving through Manhatten but once we got into New Jersey he had NO idea where he was going. He had Jeff reading out the instructions, he rang the hotel and yet he STILL couldn't find it! He kept pulling up in the most dangerous places - it really wasn't very funny. Jeff and I were convinced that he couldn't see as he paid no attention to the road signs. Eventually after two hours we saw a Holiday Inn so we told him to drop us off there. We were not happy chappies!
The hotel ordered us another taxi to take us to the right Holiday Inn, but he didn't have a clue either - eventually after speaking to some of his friends on his phone we arrived safe and sound. Only problem was that we had completely lost the whole of the afternoon. We had touched down at 1.30pm, yet didn't arrive in our hotel room until 5pm!!
It was dinner at a diner next door and then a reasonably early night.
