So where are we so far?

Well we have at last accepted an offer on the house and are patiently awaiting it all to go through ....hopefully.

We plan to leave in August and are currently deciding on the adventure we will have to get there - current thoughts are Iceland and then over to America - East coast to West Coast by camper van.

In the meantime we have written a list of things we want to do before leaving the UK.  It is amazing how much you take a place for granted until it is time to move on!

Number 1 on the list - Aintree for the Grand National

I have visited Aintree once before, it didn't seem a very long time ago but I have recently worked it out to be 19 years!!!  How old do I feel!!!  The experience was very different to last time, not just because this time Jeff and I were in charge of our 2 children in the middle of a very large crowd!  This time there were large queues to get in due to security checks, women dressed up like nothing I have seen before and lots of drunken folk!

The weather and the racing, however, were great.  The children absolutely loved the excitement as did we.  Lucy really enjoyed choosing the winner from the colour of the silks.  She became conflident when she chose the winner of the race before the National - unfortunately there was no time to put money on it!

When it came to the National Dan chose Butlers Cabin which eventually came in 7th.  Lucy chose Parsons Legacy which unfortunately fell, much to Lucy's disgust.  I chose Darkness which came in 13th and Jeff chose Irish Invader which came in 11th.  Lucy was gutted that she hadn't backed the winner as she had already planned what she was going to spend her winnings on!  What a lot of cash she would have had to spend if she had backed the winner at 100-1!!

We had a great day, very tiring but good fun - made even better on the bus on the way back to the carpark.  Mon Mome was just leaving in his horse box so we got to have a close look through the horsebox window!
