We arrived in Mancora, after a very tedious 8 hour bus/taxi journey, to find that we were staying at one of the nicest hotels, Las Olas, directly on the beach.  I could see the ocean from the door to my room and, at night, I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks. It was the perfect way to start our visit in Peru and to relax after days of walking and traveling.

Most of my time was spent on the beach, though the first day was quite cloudy.  I took several walks along the beach and investigated the little shopping booths along the street, although I still have yet to make any purchases for myself, or anyone for that matter.  I indulged my taste-buds in some of the best food Peru had to offer, grilled tuna stakes that were so succulent you wouldnīt even know it was fish, authentic Mexican cuisine, the most perfect chimichangas and a couple of pieces of chocolate cake with ice cream that deserved an award Tuc-Tuc Transport is EVERYWHERE

We waited 1.5 hours to get a pizza that night (we call it Peruvian time) and each personīs meal is brought out at 10 minute intervals, leaving one poor soul salivating as they watch everyone else finish there meal.

Mancora is a destination for all the rich, good-looking and hippie types, who spend their vacations and time off from work surfing.  Although the surfing lifestyle may not be for everyone, it certainly made people-watching that much more enjoyable and entertaining.

We left our hotel at 9pm, hopping into 2 man tuc-tucs on our way to the bus station.  I had my first night bus ride in South America.  Overall it was a great experience.  The seats were comfortable and there was A/C.  I dozed off straight away only to arrive the next morning at our next destination in a spoons position with the person next to me... slightly embarassing but amusing for all.

One more thing I forgot....  When we were at the jungle lodge in Ecuador, we experienced a small earthquake.  Not everyone felt it, however Lara, Graham, Jess and Dawna all felt the ground shaking and could see the outside shadows all swaying. Iīve since learnt it was felt across much of South America.
Photos to follow... probably tomorrow. Chow.
