Brief stop in Lima on our way north

The next day we take it easy in Lima before getting on a 18 hour bus to Mancora, Peru’s beach resort.
A 15 hour bus from Arequipa to Lima with our new favourite bus company means we arrive in Lima on Saturday morning. We're staying in Miraflores, a more residential area close to the waterfront away from the centre of Lima. We stay at Pariwana hostel (same company as the Cusco hostel) which lives up to expectations. The area of Miraflores is a nice residential area but lacks much character, fine for a night but not much to do apart from walk along the waterfront. There are however plenty of restaurants and so we go for some seafood at Punto Azul where I get try the long awaited Peruvian cerviche. Turns out to be a lot of raw fish (meant to be shared as a starter but it’s second ingredient after fish is onions so I’m on my own). The dish is tasty and Jonny enjoys a good pasta dish with king prawns. At night, we head to a different area along the coast called Barranco for drinks and dinner where we test the happy hour deals and Inca sangria – sangria with Inca Cola in it. Inca Cola is a Peruvian soft drink that is bright yellow but to me tastes like Irn-Bru, Inca Cola won in the popularity stakes against Coca Cola in Peru and so Coca Cola bought it, which is a shame but I definitely prefer it to Coke.
