Where I stayed
Che Lagarto Hostel
We arrive at the bus station and head to our hostel Che Lagarto, our first visit to relatively big chain of hostels across S.America. It looks like an old converted hotel and has a bar, pool and terrace – plenty of people milling around and so looks pretty good. As daylight is fading we head out for a walk round the pretty, old town part of the village and find out that a festival is on (apparently not that uncommon for this town as for the month of June alone there were 5 festivals scheduled). This one is religious festival but we don’t see much to do with religion, we come across a couple of stages set up for shows, outdoor tents for food and a tented market selling anything you could possibly want
Next day is a bit grey so we head to one of the small towns (Trindade) along the coast for a walk along the beach. We manage about five minutes of our walk before it starts raining and that’s our day pretty much done. So the only thing left to do is have a value meal lunch from one of the local restaurants – fish/meat rice and beans for £4 – a bargain in Brazil standards and tasty too. Jonny also spots a lot of street art that he likes so all round not a bad afternoon!
Back to the hostel, where we chill out for a while, before having a hostel meal of parmesan chicken and rice. This turns into quite a sociable night as the Irish have invaded the hostel and so Irish snap is on the go along with a few beers.
And onto our next destination after a couple of long bus journeys – Iguazu Falls.
