We landed in Panama and were the only passengers staying here, everyone else was in transit to other places. What did they know that we didn't?
We were collected and driven through the busy city. It is a mixed city with high rise buildings and run down areas. We entered a gated community out of the centre in a very green park like area. The buildings were very small and square - at this point Tony told us they were old US Army barracks.
We stopped outside one which was gated but painted brightly. The owner met us and showed us inside. There is a communal area and breakfast area then the rooms are off to the side. Quite basic accommodation but does the job, comfy bed and hot shower.
The place is set in a protected national park and so we are hoping to see some wildlife - birds, monkeys and even sloths (so says Tony). There are bird feeders outside the rooms and bunches of bananas hanging for the monkeys so fingers crossed !
The only down point is that we are quite a way out of town and so we took a taxi out to a restaurant for dinner. There is not a lot going on as a lot of places were shut. We found a nice place and had a good meal and returned for a good nights sleep.
