DAY 9 - Friday 26'h May 2002 (Fort William (Glen Nevis) - Edinburgh).
Said goodbye to Jon and Eli as they are hiking up Ben Nevis today. Dumped my bag on Alan's bunk as the hostel guy won't let me store it anywhere. Then went for a walk with Alan along the road at the base of Ben Nevis. Nice day, sun shining and everything, and nice walk along to waterfall at the end of the road. And good to have no pack on.
Then back to Glen Nevis and had sandwiches down by the stream over the road from the hostel.
Booked taxi and then tried to get bag out of the hostel. Bit of trouble as Alan hadn't got his key so had to ask to be let in and the grumpy old sod in the hostel nearly wasn't going to let him get my bag as apparently I wasn't supposed to leave anything in there, even though the others are staying. Luckily one of the younger guys helping let Alan in.
Had a cup of coffee with Alan at the tea house next door, and then got taxi to Fort William to get the coach to Edinburgh to see Andy and Fiona. Drove through great scenery, through Glen Coe etc, and quite amazing how quickly you can go by road as within an hour or so was passing by the Bridge of Orchy hotel.
So had more 70 shillings that night in Edinburgh (although totally confused as given a choice of brewers) in memory of the trip (and 'cos I like it). A little sad that its all over, but had a great time, and can't wait for the next trip.
