A crazy two weeks - Australia here we come!

We had 2 more crazy weeks before leaving. Monday I gave notice. Tuesday and Wednesday the house was carnage as the moving company came through. After that point we were using plastic cutlery and sleeping on our throw away mattress. We had a lot of friends who we wanted to say goodbye to. One messy evening turned into a water fight at 3am in a local park that had a sprinkler system. I think it took Erica 2 days to get rid of that hangover! It was very sad to say goodbye to a lot of good friends before we left knowing we wouldn't see a lot of them for a while. The time flew by and by the end of it we wanted to take a vacation to recover, I think my liver felt much the same way! As if things weren't hectic enough the day before we left our house it was vandalized with spray paint. 'Robbie' was written all over the deck and siding! It turns out Robbie was a 12 year old kid who was moving into the house with his parents after we left and he wanted to mark his territory! I think our landlord could be in for some interesting tenants!
The final day before we flew out I was actually still working out my notice. The house was still a mess and in the end I quit work at midday, headed home, frantically scrubbed the house with Erica for 3 hours on what was one of the hottest days of the year, before getting in our rental car and racing to the airport. I dropped off Erica, the cat and the luggage, drove back to Cambridge to drop off the car, took the T back to the airport arriving about 45 minutes before our flight left. After paying the crappy $25 American Airlines luggage fee (and $100 for that cat), payable by anyone who checks luggage on any AA internal flight nowadays, we shot through security ready for our plane! Poor Chris had come to see us off and I hardly spoke 2 words to him such was our rush and am still feeling guilty over that.
But the main thing was we were on our way - wahoo - Australia watch out here we come!
