Today we ventured into Zion Canyon in a very old wood panelled Buick, Im not sure whether I felt like Chevy Chase or Steve Martin, but either way I was incredibly excited to be in a car like this, a good old American station wagon.
So, Zion Canyon is like a HUGE red Cheddar Gorge, it was almost too big to take in, I didn't really have any perception as to how big this place is. Anyway, there are many walks in the canyon, we managed to do two of them, one very easy and another less so. Weather was pleasant in the morning but heated up a bit too much on our PM walk. We didn't see much wildlife apart from squirrels, lizards, butterflies and a black tarantula, which was very cool to see in the day time. Here's a clip of the canyon, click to view.
Our trip back to the RV park was an interesting one, we were driven, again in the Buick by a 5/8 Indian called Blackhawk Walters who was a world kick boxing champion three times over, he now sings and makes movies, a very interesting individual indeed, who told many stories of Indians and their past as well as telling us about his father who was a Marine and Grandfather who was a famous horse whisperer
We'll be setting off for Bryce Canyon tomorrow morning which is about 100 miles from here,we're still deciding whether to go through a tunnel built in the 1920's that will only fit an RV if it drives through the centre, the tunnel is shut while RVs pass through it!
We've also recorded a movie clip of the RV which is on YouTube, it'll show you what it's like inside and out, it's full of gadgets - a very big and expensive toy! Click here to see it.
