Tun Sakaran Marine Park - From the Kingabatan I travelled down to the town of Semporna, with the main reason to dive the island of Sipadan. This is one of the world's most famous dive sites. It is a small island off the east coast of Sabah, and has a massive drop off almost right off the beach (600m to the sea bed). This drop off causes big animals to be drawn here. I spent two days diving around the island enjoying the abundant sea life. Highlights included the number of turtles in the water (we saw about 20 per dive) and the numerous sharks swimming around.
The only annoying bit of the diving was constantly being attacked by Triggerfish. These are bit fish (up to 80cm long) with very sharp teeth. It was the nesting season, so they were very aggressive. Lots of divers around the world have been badly injured by them. Everytime you felt your fins being bitten you knew it was time to swim fast and get away from the angry Trigger fish.
