We took a quick day trip to Harran from Sanliurfa.  Probably the most amazing fact about this place is that it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on Earth.  The city is mentioned in the Bible's book of Genesis and Abraham was also hanging around in these parts around 1900 BC.  It is also famous as a center for the worship of the sun, moon, and planets.  Arabs, Byzantines, and the Crusaders have all been here at one point or another winning, controlling, and losing power.  Now, Jon and Liz have even passed through.

These days it is a dusty little spot with a small village and some ruins well worth taking a look at.  Well, at least we thought so.  Hope you do too...
