Since we will not be speaking with Kim till 11am, we decided to roll in a little later. After all, there is really nothing to do till we clarify our project further with Kim.
Our concall (conference call) with Kim was brief and concise. He was confused that we needed access to intranet for our project. But all we wanted was access to printers and copiers and can't get it because we did not have the proper security clearances. It was interesting trying to get ourselves cleared. Christine, the person in charge of network cards, needed us to get real DHL ID cards and not the temporary ones that we were given.
Kim had to email the security guys and after a few email exchanges and more confusion, I was granted a DHL card. They did not know that we needed these cards to get on the network. Hhhmmmm.... I guess maybe big is not better in this case for DHL.
So now our project scope sort of shifted. We originally thought that the project was going to have a heavier load and thus needed to work extra on weekends. Well, Kim redefined the project. Now we are to analyze the airports--Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Helsinki--for the potential implementation of a consolidation center. Basically copy what Heathrow did with its airport retail logistics, if possible.
The problem with this new requirement is that we had to contact important people to get their opinions on the viability of this project at their respective airports. So I found myself doing most of the contacting. I butchered almost every name I encountered. But they found me amusing and were very helpful. Hopefully that is enough to get them talking to us. We are hoping that they would not mind meeting with us or spend some time on a conference call with us to get the information we needed. So we are now playing a game of cat and mouse, us being the cat. We could not do anything till these people at the airports contacted us.
