After leaving australia and arriving in Bangkok, we didnt realise how much we would miss the western culture. It didint help that we were exhuasted and it was 2am when we arrived, but along the 5minute walk to our hostel (which was really lovely and only 6 pounds) we passed more prositutes than any other people, ladyboys coming a close second and other thai people that tried to con u into buying everything.
waking up in thailand was a bit of a culture shock too. The toilets being different to say the least. We decided to visit the kings palace and a few other sites, commuting via a tuk tuk (for anyone that doesnt know waht a tuk tuk is, it's essentially a standard mountain bike, with an engine and a carrige at the back. There arent any sides, just a roof and a handle for you to cling on to for dear life.) If there has been one point on this trip that we have thoight we would not suvive, it was the tuk tuk journeys.) The sites we went to were impressively large and clean but it was the food that we liked the most. Espeically Jo and the noodles.
Off to Ko Samui tomorrow for some relaxing and hopefully tanning.
