Brussels Friday
Entry 13 of 13 | show all | print this entry |
It's Friday. The rain stopped temporarily. Yesterday was a bummer. Rained practically all day. Between rain drops we managed to get to two cathedrals, Notre Dame (yes there is one here) and St. Michael. They are, as might be expected, very large and beautiful architectural structures with many pieces of art within. However, most of our day was spent in the hotel. BOO, HISS!!!! Today we walked to the Parc du Brussels, a very large green area in the center of town. It's nicely laid out but it seems as if they do not spend as much on maintenance as they should. I caught a cold. Mom and I have decided it was a good plan to end our holiday in Brussels. We saw more interesting things in other places and the weather turned bad here and there wasn't as much of interest to us.
Wednesday night we decided to try Italian. Great choice. We found a little restaurant on the second floor. The entrance was a narrow one almost invisible. The food was worth it. Bought a bottle of Chianti with the meal and saved part of it so we could have snacks and a sip at the hotel. The place was called Osteria a l'Ombra just a stone's throw from La Grand Place. As in most European cities, things are close together. Walking is easy. It wasn't raining.
Well, if I put too much in these travelogs, I won't have anything to tell you when I get home. Besides, I have been fighting this cold and I don't feel that crisp. This will be my last entry. We leave tomorrow morning bright and early to go to the airport. The plane leaves at 10:30AM. Kathe, I hope you have our return schedule. See you all soon. Love to all.
