Did a whirlwind tour of the city when i first arrived, checking out the Berlin wall, checkpoint charlie, the Egyptian collection and much much more. But yesterday I hit the wall (the mental wall, not the actual Berlin wall, that would be somewhat disrepectful). After 2.5 months of travel, the midpoint of my trip, it was inevitable that i would feel tired. But Im quite surprised just how exhausted I actually feel. And its difficult to appreciate the amazingness of this vibrant and historically interesting city when Im walking around in a daze, just wanting to be in bed.

Its a difficult situation to be in - i feel like i should be using every moment to see more sites, to meet more people, to go out every night and then all the next day. Particularly because most people I meet in the hostels are only travelling for a short time, so want to cram everything in. But for me, Im finding it impossible to maintain the pace without either going crazy or feeling down and depressed.

So, even though i felt a bit guilty to take a break from my sightseeing, I decided I needed a rest day or two. Yesterday and today were spent in bed reading, going for a jog, and wandering aimlessly around drinking coffee and tea in cafes. And I feel much better for it. Still not 100% but getting there. I think Im also adjusting to being alone again, after spending the last two weeks in the company of good friends.

Anyway, enough wallowing. Its all part of the travel experience and one of the reasons I decided to do such a long trip, to test my character, strength and will power.

Speaking of emotional strength, Im going on a tour of a concentration camp tomorrow, so will need all the mental stamina I can draw together.

Chill days
Good plan to rest a bit more. Luke begged for more 'chill days' when we travelled together. It works in that some relaxing days peppered in, re-charge the batteries and stop you getting blase about too much beauty xxxx
