One last entry!

In case you care - this is the story of our travels home from Queenstown
The first Friday - mad shopping in Queenstown during the morning hours - fly to Auckland .  Find the international terminal and board the plane to San Francisco
The second Friday (crossed the international date line!).    Land in San Francisco  go back to our hotel and check in - walk down to the waterfront and explore.   One last Happy Hour with Sue, Betsy, and Bill.     Dine with Avi, our bike friend from the Portugal trip.
Saturday - fly to Chicago and discover that Logan airport is closed.  Spend the night in Chicago.
Great dinner at Capital Grill
Sunday - fly to New York and wait for the plane to Logan - get on the 8:00 plane but have to wait 45 minutes on the runway because of air traffic.       Michelle picks us up at 10:00
Monday - visit with the Hoffy kids, and Jan and Skip - then drive home in pouring rain followed by sleet.    Lots of cars off the road.     Visit with my mother, pick up a few groceries, and arrive at The Spa (short for our home) in time to shovel 14 inches or so of snow!

Let me say - it's a bit of a hike from Queenstown, NZ to Smithfield, ME.   :-).

We've unpacked, started some laundries, had a nice dinner (tough to cook after so long on the road!) and now it's time to write my last blog entry!     We loved New Zealand!  The people were so friendly and helpful.  We loved staying at the most wonderful B&Bs in NZ!  Honestly, we could not have asked for better accommodations!  The lodges were great as well!  Having guides made this trip really special!  Doug on the North Island and John on the South Island - they were both just great!  It was wonderful using their expertise to find us the best walks and restaurants and beaches to explore!  We were never disappointed!   We did so many different things - train rides, a night on the boat in Milford Sound, walking in the pouring rain in the rainforest, hiking up on the Bealey Spur with incredible views in every direction, walking the beautiful beaches, eating the most delicious NZ lamb (many times, I have to say!), discovering Hokey Pokey Ice Cream . .    It was all perfect!

Nothing better than traveling with Sue, Betsy, and Bill!   How great to have a family that can spend close to a month together and just plain have fun!  Pretty special!    I will close with a few pictures of Sue and me on our rafting trip.  We did have fun!
