Where I stayed

We rolled into Sault Saint Marie, MI a little later than planned but nothing to worry about. We quickly checked into our rooms, unpacked and then headed across the street to an Applebee's for a quick dinner.  The ride north from the Mackinac Bridge was uneventful but quite a bit colder than I had expected.  Heading into the toll booth after the bridge crossing, Peter told me the outside temp was just 43 degrees F.  Cold, and it would be getting colder the farther north we traveled the next day!  On the positive side there wasn't a raindrop to be found anywhere along our route over the next few days.

We agreed to meet the next morning for breakfast at 6 AM to get an early start.  You never know what to expect when crossing the border and we wanted to make sure we weren't rushed along the way and had plenty of time to stop and enjoy the scenery.  Our plan was to make it to Marathon, Ontario for lunch and then on to Thunder Bay by late evening.
