I got back on Quebec Route 20 and headed towards Montreal. My goal was to try and get through Montreal before morning rush hour and get out of Quebec as quickly as possible. As I got into the city I ran into a traffic jam near the airport. Traffic was nearly at a dead stop, moving very slowly, just fast enough that I couldn't really put my feet down, but not fast enough that I could really ride. I'm glad I was wearing boots and not sneakers because my boots got a workout, that's for sure! After about 45 minutes of stop-and-go the traffic cleared up and I headed northeast on 40/417 bound for Ottawa.
Montreal is a nice city, I regretted not having time to stop and explore the city more than I had on previous trips, but I really needed to make good time. My goal for the day was the Best Western in Sudbury, ON, a distance of 485 miles (780 km). Easy, but only if I got my butt in gear and got going!
I kept to my promise not to spend any more money in Quebec, too!
