Rome, the Eternal City: perhaps it's so named because it would take an eternity just to visit all of its churches. There are so many, and so many are magnificent in their decoration, in their architecture, in their statuary, in their ceilings, in their floors, or often in several of these attributes.
One church stands out as unusual: it is the church of Santa Maria della Concezione de Cappuccini. In fact it is the crypt that is interesting. It is packed with bones, arranged in various decorative ways.
Rome also has its more secular monuments, including the beautiful but overcrowded Trevi Fountain, the over-hyped and overcrowded Spanish Steps, and the grandiose and completely over the top Vittorio Emanuele II Monument.
