We dropped Dick off on Highway 505 to go back to Berkeley.

We took breakfast along the road at a new café where the waitress thought our accents were 'neat'.

We travelled North to Lassen Volcanic National Park and walked through the Sulphur Works and Bottom Pass Hall. At the visitor centre we saw the museum and attended a slide presentation, and then cooked supper in the picnic area.

Learning that temperatures at night are generally below 30 deg F (the elevation there is 7,000 to 8,000 feet) we quickly retreated to a lower level and spent the night in a rest area near Weed.
