Newark, June 11, 2006)-All travelers have their nightmares and I had mine when I got to Newark "Liberty" Airport fromn Amsterdam Thursday afternoon. Without boring you with all the details, let it suffice to say that our plane to Columbus OH taxied around the runways for about 3 hours and then spewed us back into the terminal around midnight to spend the night in Newark instead of properly moving on. Welcome to the USA!
Anyway, this landing brings my Spring Travelogue to a close and opens the page on the next series of postings from my Summer Tour of the United Snakes, which will begin with my next entry. It's been kicks writting to all of you like this from Europe for the past three months, and I'm looking forward to writing from cities and campuses all across America on this trip, starting with the ComFest in Columbus, OH this weekend.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
My US itinerary begins in Columbus at the ComFest this weekend, then to New York City Tuesday, June 27 where I will be appearing:

Friday, June 20 & Saturday, July 1 OFF
Monday through Friday, July 3-7 I'll be teaching my workshop in Poetry of the Blues at Common Ground on the Hill in Westminster MD on the campus of McDaniel College. Cary Wolfson & I will also conduct The New Orleans Class and a series of community radio workshops in conjunction with the campus radio station. I'll be performing as part of the Common Ground Blues Revue on the 4th of July and again at the American Music Festival in Westminster that weekend, July 8-9. Up-to-date information at www.commongroundonthehill.org
On Tuesday, July 11 I'll fly from NY to New Orleans and this is where my schedule changes. My daughter Celia is having some serious health problems and I need to visit her in the hospital and see what I can do to help her situation there. So I'll stay in New Orleans until Saturday, July 15 and play a gig with Carlo Ditta on Friday the 14th at the Green Room in Covington, across the lake. I'm sorry to lose the Wednesday night beer night at Two Stick July 12th but I'll go there directly from Covington and remain in Oxford to mix and master the two albums we made from Fattening Frogs For Snakes in Mississippi, until I leave from memphis fopr Los Angeles on July 19th.
More news as it happens....Hope to see a lot of you on the Bardic Path in the next few weeks, and thanks again for listening.
Love, John

JS- Glad you are remixing Fattening Frogs for Snakes
Give my warmest wishes to Celia- Hiawatha says hi to her as well. I'll try to get my mom and sister to get out to see you in Maryland where they live now.
Brita went to a pretty cool film event at the Bohemian Center last night- Scott Morgan and Hiawatha's bands did some soundtrack work for a locally produced film about a trip to voodoo New Orleans.
