March 12th is a holy day of obligation in my faith: The birthday of Jack Kerouac in 1922 and the day Charlie Parker died in 1955. There are a lot of saints in my religion, and some of the other Holy Days of Obligation are Opening Day at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, the days in October (8-9-10) when Amiri Baraka, John Lennon and Thelonious Monk were born in quick succession*, the Holiest Day of September 23rd when John Coltrane, Ray Charles, Earl Turbinton, Allison Miner and other giants were born, and November 1st, All Souls Day and the birthday of my wife Penny, whom I will always worship and adore.

I celebrated this holy day of obligation and enjoyed my first day as Poet in Residence at The Dolphins with a sumptuous breakfast at the pancake house on the other side of the Leidseplein, coffee and Opening Tokes at The Dolphins, relaxing with Adam Brook and working on this TravelPod log at the Smoking Bull, dining at the Thai place on the Nieuwemarkt and coffee next door with Yaw at the Rock-It, then a smoke and a tea at the 420 Cafe and back to The Dolphins, where I sit typing as we speak.

It's like my friends here would say, or James Andrews might say in the 6th Ward of New Orleans: "Another day in Paradise." Thank you, whatever gods have made this possible....

My new address is c/o The Dolphins, Kerkstraat 39, 1017 GB Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Cell phone is the same: +31 (0)61 511 1802. E-mail: johnsinclair001@hotmail.com. As you may have noticed, my website is still down but being overhauled and we hope a solution is imminent.
