Arrived in La Paz yesterday after a 90 min flight from sea level to roughly 12,500 feet.
When the door of the plane opened both Susan & I were instantly light headed and had tingling in the extremeties.
Susan took the altitude change a little worse and needed to sit down for a while before going through immigration.
Bolivia has some strict requirements for Americans, so we were stuck being grilled over the lack of an official īnvite letter¨.
Finally through paperwork - and no oxygen required, we headed to the hotel.

La Paz is quite the republic... pretty different from Lima.

We were able to head out to the market for a bite to eat and browsed some of the mini stalls for shopping.  Like Hong Kong & Fiji, meat is hung in the open with no refrigeration.

Last night we ate at a nearby hotel and had to try the local fare - Llama steak...  a little gamey but not bad at all.

I am very glad we are able to spend a full day getting used to the altitude.

No wifi in the hotel but will try and load some pics soon
