So, after a week in Beijing I am still here, and I am still waiting............. My German friend Anne finally made it to Beijing on Wednesday (after her 50 hour train marathon.) Our first few days together has been an interesting start to our journey to say the least?!? We are waiting for her Mongolian visa to be processed. I am looking forward to finally heading out in the direction of Mongolia sometime tomorrow! Looks like we have a 30 hour train ride from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar (the capital of Mongolia)and some cold weather in our really near future. I got my warm clothing out, and my backpack packed and ready to go! As always if nothing else it should be an adventure!

Me and Anne spent the last few days playing "super tourist" here in Beijing and the surrounding area. Yesterday we knocked out the required tourist destinations for any visitor to China "The Forbidden City" and "Tiananmen square." Today we woke up early this morning and made a trip out to the "The Great Wall." I thought to myself what better way to spend a day waiting then to visit one of the "7 Natural Wonders of the World?" It was a really special experience for me! Not many things could ever live up to the type of hype that comes along with the "The Great Wall of China" but the great wall in my book is everything and more then I expected it to be. It is set in the most amazing rural mountain setting. The wall snakes through and over the surrounding mountains. As an added bonus the weather here over the last few days has been awesome! It is a really nice time of year to be here in China. All the leaves on the trees are starting to change to vivid colors of red and yellow. I think without a doubt the great wall is the most impressive "Wonder of the World" that I have visited so far. I have plenty of pics that I will post later when I have more time. Oh, and belive me I have plenty! I was thinking today about that not many places on this earth can compare to the coolness of having your picture taken on "The Great Wall of China!"
