all up the press because this news is BIG!! BIGGER then if Brittney Spears would have an illegitimate child for a "black man." I am about to set out on my biggest year long journey of my short 25 yr. existence. Asia/Middle East 2006-07!
Viva La "Johnny Nomad Experiment!!!"
I am writing this from New York City. I have been living it up like George and Wheezy, on the East side in a deluxe apartment in the sky." I am staying with my travel buddy "Suzi Wanders." It is an odd interesting story of how she and I ended up here together in NYC. I will share the Suzi and Johnny Nomad story of how we ended up on 3 continents together later. I will be in the Big Apple for 15 days in total. Then it is East of Eden for me! I am headed to the Far East!!
I plan on spending the next year traveling between Asia and the Middle East. My first stop will be in Bangkok, Thailand. On June 5th I am making the grueling 21 hour journey, with a short stop over in Tokyo, Japan. My plans as of now is to spend the remainder of this year hoping around South East Asia (Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia)and then up into China and Tibet(granted I get a visa for Tibet) for a few months. I will need to get out of the Himalayans before winter. So I am thinking from there I will make my way back into the Middle East via Pakistan (granted I get a visa for Iran.) If not I will wait out the winter and make my way into Russia and down the former Soviet block into Europe. As you all know this could and probably will change by tomorrow. But it should be fun to watch it all pan out. I will be back on the blog at least once a week so check back often and follow along with my journey!

Bon Voyage
Hey Johnny N! Thanks for the picture! Now I have a dead camel looking at me above my computer. Fortunately most people can't identify what it is. Glad you could move on up to the East Side. So how are things in the Big Apple? Have you made a trip to see the soup nazi yet?
We've got an aunt and uncle in the Far East, so if you need some help with anything over there, let us know. They are currently teaching in Asia, and they should be in Singapore by the end of the summer for a long assignment.
Some travel advice: Don't eat dog. Look out for pickpocketing transvestites. Don't pick a fight with a Russian named Ivan Drago. And, more seriously: Pray. Walk. Read. Take good pictures with your mind. Ask people about their lives.
And finally, as you travel, contemplate these words from Lyle Lovett...
If I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat

So, the Nomad is still in travel-mode; it never ends! I'm still stuck in LA, but may be headed east next year as well. Have fun out there, and keep all of us updated.
