I am writing this from Vera Cruz, Mexico. It is a port town on the Caribbean side of Mexico it is famous for its Carnival. I decided at the last minute to come down and check it out. It has not really begun yet. Being from New Orleans and spending last Carnival in Brazil, Vera Cruz has big shoes to follow. More on that latter.

I am getting a lot of questions about my blog. I plan on using it as an online journal - travel diary open to everyone. I will use this space to write my thoughts on Life, Love, Travel, and the World! Everyone is welcome to check back as often as they like (save the link.) I plan on adding entries every few days.

Here goes my first bit of ranting and raving!

The much dreaded question of "how can you afford to travel for over 2 years straight," is the inevitable question for me in every backpacker-traveler conversation. I have dreaded, avoided, and made up many different answers to this question over the last 2 years. My answers to this really personal and inappropriate question have ranged from, "I am a former child celebrity" to, "I sold my Kidney for travel money." But my new answer to how I can afford to travel for so long question is the simple reply "I AM RICH!" People's reactions are funny when I make a bold statement like this and they usually drop the conversation. The truth is that I sold my Kidney to support my "Sea Monkey Addiction." And any way the term "Rich" is relevant. My parents love and support me, no small Latin American child has come forward yet and called me "Daddy," I have lots of great friends, and by the Grace of God I live this amazing life! Therefore by all means I am Rich!

Thanks for helping put the FUN in dysfunctional!
