So I finally got to go to a Real Madrid soccer game on Sunday. Last week, the team won the Liga championship (Spanish league) against Barcelona. Nosebleed tickets went for upwards of 600euros! Thankfully, there was one last game this week to finish the season, followed a huge spectacle and fireworks show.
For those of you who haven't been to an European fútbol game, think of it like the NBA Playoffs. The energy, noise, and excitement is crazy intense. Real Madrid is considered one of the best teams in Europe (David Beckham played for the team until 2007).
Here are some pics:
Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

Real Madrid vs. Levante

My friend Alejandro and I at the beginning of the game.

The crowd

The best part?? Heaters to keep us warm!

We were sitting at the front of the nosebleed section, but we could still see all the players pretty well.

The team celebrating their 5-2 victory against Levante. (Obviously I didn't take this picture)

The Aftershow

Fireworks

45 Euros well spent. HALA MADRID! This is one thing I'll miss about Spain. Why isn't soccer popular in the US??
