Bariloche's all mountains and chocolate, a bit like Toblerone. I stayed in a hostel called 1004 for most of the time, which isn't the nicest building to look at but when you're in it it's got a great view of the lake. Bariloche's pretty touristy, every third or fourth shop seems to be a chocolate shop. It's tasty stuff though.
I met up with Rob, a guy I'd met in my hostel in Buenos Aires and went out for the night with him and his classmates from spanish school. Christ the bars are smokey there. We ended up going with some locals to a nightclub which was pretty expensive to get in, but we got in for the local price instead of the gringo one and we got into the VIP area, which wasn't that VIP really, it was more like the over 21's area, it was a total teenie-bopper-fest.
The next day I went to check out the cable car up to the hills which has a great view of the town. I ended up in the car with this girl from Brazil who was funny...she started talking in portuguese and she asked me something and I just about understood her with the tiny bit of portuguese I had and relied, so then she yapped away in full-speed native portuguese, most of which went over my head. There was a revolving restaurant at the top of the hill so we went in and got something to eat and she was telling me that I should go straight from Mendoza to Viña del Mar in Chile as it's a nicer route than going straight to Santiago and she was drawing out a map for me on the table mat and I had to do my best to not laugh cos I was only getting about 10% of what she was saying.
I met up again with Rob and one of his classmates and we went bowling instead of going to the pub, which was a good laugh. And then we went to the pub afterwards anyway, and it ended up being another late night / early morning one, and I had to get up early to change hostel as mine was full so that wasn´t fun, but it was a good night.
