Puerto Varas

Puerto Varas is a really dinky little town, lots of German and Swiss people settled in the area years ago so it's all wooden houses and kuchen and things like that. I'd read that it's pretty touristy but I dunno, I really liked the place, the people were all really nice and it just feels like a friendly small town.
I went on a canopy ride, which is a series of cables tied between trees up on a hill and you whizz from one to the other, a bit like the thing in the krypton factor. It was up on the side of the town with a really good view of the volcano so that was cool. I also took a day trip to see one of the lakes, laguna de los santos, which was really nice, stunning scenery and mountains and more blue-blue lakes. And then it was off to Bariloche.
