The bus from Maracay to Choroni was just the craziest. It was all jazzed up on the outside with paintings and then on the inside the windows were darkened out with plastic covering and there was a huge sound system at the back and the driver had these disco lights on at the front and was blaring out Regaton toons which are normally a bit of a head wreck but they kinda went with the whole thing! The view was wicked from the bus, it took about 3 hours altogether...at times there were trees down over the road, other times it was flooded, but eventually we went over the mountains and arrived into Choroni late at night.
When we got there there was pretty much no room at the inn. There were a few other tourists on the bus and we ended up following each other round for a bit and then hunting for accommodation in a pack, myself and David, Esteban and Theodore from Austria and a couple from Pais Basco. So we arrived at this place in the end and it was pretty expensive but David haggled with them to let all 6 of us stay in a room with 4 beds and a hammock and the floor!
We stayed in Choroni for a couple of nights and it was a cool spot - bumped into a good few people from the hostel in Cuidad Bolivar as well. The next day, me, David, Theodore and Esteban headed to the town beach which was pretty cool and had some good waves and then the next day we headed to another beach about 45 mins walk away through the hills and pretty much had this small beach to ourselves which was pretty cool...you could see fish swimming round in the sea and the water was really warm and clear. We hit the town that night, which turned out to be David´s birthday and had a good night, until David bought a bottle of rum and we ended up drinking that in the square and I can´t remember a whole pile after that, apart from the fact that the bus ride out of Choroni the next day was not as much fun as on the way in!
