Drive through the desert

We drove out to Hatta today - less than 3 hours from Dubai - and passed through Oman on the way out. It wasn't long before we were completely in the desert - and I mean the real, rolling sand dune kind of desert. It was pretty cool. Before we got to Hatta it started to get a little mountainous, and the sand turned a really cool shade of red. Hatta itself was a little Oasis town. We had lunch at the Hatta Fort hotel, which was really nice: sitting next to a big pool with great food, surrounded by desert mountains. After lunch we went to the heritage village before heading back to Dubai to meet Kiera.
Halfway between Dubai and Hatta are places where you can rent quads to drive around in the sand. Our little rental car got stuck just approaching the sand parking lot. how lame.
