I just have to make a short entry about this, even though it took place in late November. All of the Antarctic trip people drove up into the mountains to the University of Canterbury's Cass Field Station and spent three days there. We learned more about what our trip south would entail, practiced lighting primus stoves, and set up polar tents. We also watched "The Thing," a truly incredible 1980s horror flick about Antarctica. On the third and final day of our trip, we had our "fitness test"--a hike up the Bealy Spur (luckicky for me, hiking is probably the only fitness test I could ever pass). Enjoy the pcitures.
