What I did
I thought that I would do a brief note since we had taken a few pics today.
Today (Monday) the kids went into New York while Helen and I did the rounds of East Rutherford. As you will see from the photos it is really a quiet locality. This am we were able to get a ride via the hotel shuttle to the other side of a major New Jersey highway after a lady on the hotel desk said there was no pedestrian access. Anyway we did find a way back and had a look around the local neighbourhood
There are brothers starting to arrive already. They brothers working with the convention hospitality committee have set up a welcome desk in the foyer, but we haven't seen them yet, maybe in the morning before the Brooklyn tour (6 am start!) So far we have met two couples from Switzerland, one brother fron Greece and a couple from Italy at Aldi`s, a couple from Wodonga, (Corey that is Australia), a family from Singapore and the two teenage children will be baptised here. I expect there will be more arrive this evening.
I have started to note the names of a few we met, but the challenge will be recognizing them again and putting the right (Christian) names to the right people.
Just getting used to the light switches here in the US(down is off, up is on). There are no switches on the double power points, but charging devices is a little slow with only two adapters and it being only 120 volts. A few other differences that remind us that we are in another country. Disappointed that I haven't seen a meat pie yet! But it has been a really great experience, and we have met some nice folks.
Regards John & Helen
