24 April - We travel all night arriving in London for a long layover. Then it's another flight over Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and finally we will reach Phoenix about the same time of day we took off from Heathrow. Meanwhile, it has been said, "Mowage, is wat bwings us togevuh." Merrie often makes these Africa trips with me when the budget permits. Otherwise, I quicken the pace and work longer hours to shorten our time apart as much as is practical. When we are half a world apart like this it seems that half of me is missing: the gentler, more aware and intuitive half. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder," and to pique that emotion I sometimes dare myself on the plane to listen to "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. Its lyrics stir the faucets of the eyes insuring that a spectacle is made to anyone looking my way. Love sickness, it turns out, can cost one the appearance of his integrity in public! But that's a small price to pay for "true love." (Maybe it's time to see "The Princess Bride," and "Only You" again.) Thanks for following the blog, and may you and yours enjoy and appreciate all the time you spend together.
