Some facts about this place: Australia is the world's sixth largest country and it's largest island. It's the only island that's also a continent and the only continent that's only a country. It was the first continent to be conquered from the sea, and the last. It's the only nation that began as a prison.

It has more living things that will kill you than anywhere else. Of the worlds ten most poisonous snakes, all are Australian. If you are not stung or pronged to death in some unexpected manner, you may be fatally chomped by sharks or crocodiles, or carried out to sea by currents, or left to stagger to an unhappy death in the outback. It'd a tough place!

With this in mind, I visited Australia Zoo. Founded by the late Steve Irwin (Croc Hunter nutter), it's a huge park in which Crocs are fed, and Koalas and Kangaroos can be petted amongst the parkland. Aside from that it was a fairly normal Zoo, but it was great to get up close to what the wildlife has to offer out here.
