Sun 17th - Cairo. 7am landed in Cairo. Our flight took us over Dubai at night then when the sun came up we went right over the Pyramids. Cairo Airport looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 20 yrs little did we know....this is Egypt. Our transfer took us to the Pyramids Hotel about 40 mins from airport. This is not the hotel we were told apparently things had changed. Just driving out of the airport we nearly had an accident. One a guy cut us off and we nearly smashed into him. It's madness. There are no traffic lights and the highways are like Daytona Egypt a race with no rules with a ruff speed limit of 120km/hr. Luckily we were in a mini bus and big cars get right of way. There are also human obstacles, people run across the highways in groups dodging cars! We passed a car on the side of the road that had ended up on its roof? We got to the hotel and i asked our tour guide and there were 8,500 road fatalities in Egypt in 2007! Hotel was 4 star but must have been rated for its view of the pyramids not the actual quality of the hotel.

Mon 18th - started our tour with a day trip to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Museum was huge hard to fit into 2 hrs. It was amazing there was so many things to look it hard to take it all in. Some of the statues were from the Old Kingdom pretty unreal to think ur looking at something made 4600 years ago. Tutankhamun's treasures were the highlight with everything still in tact his mask and cophin made completley of gold.
We went out to the Giza pyramids in the afternoon and got to go inside Giza 2 pyramid 100 metres down into the burial chamber.

Wow...
Sounds like a bunch of chaos...but it's 'organized chaos' right?
