If you like horse racing, bourbon, boxing, baseball or fried chicken then Louisville is your place.
I'm pretty ambivalent to them all at the best of times. Apart from baseball, which I figure is the dullest sport on the planet.
Home to Louisville slugger (baseball bat), Mohammed Ali (boxer, duh), Kentucky Derby (probably good fun, but not on when we were there), KFC and a million types of sweet whiskey, we stayed in Louisville as a stop off on the way across to Washington.
To be fair it is a city with a tremendous history and a load of marvellous architecture, but "4th Street Live" was barely breathing and the whole place seemed rather faded history. Nice meal, a few too many margaritas and a decent hotel for very little.
The drive up from Memphis took over 6 hours, and we hit this storm that has been hovering over the centre of the US, which meant driving through snow again for about 2 hours. Add to that we went back into the Eastern Seaboard Timezone and that resulted in us arriving much later than we intended, probably resulting in a less than overwhelming impression of the city.
Oh, and my cold had kicked in big time.
Anyway - a good chunk of the trip back east settled. Another snow storm navigated and a good deal more of the audio book "The Rosie Effect" taken care of. I enjoyed "The Rosie Project", hugely on the way through Florida, having doubts about the sequel.

Distance travelled - 379 miles
