Where I stayed
Staying with my lovely friend Nicole at Northwestern University in student accommodation. Nicole is studying at the Kellogg Business School. Being connected to the famous Kellogg family expecting there to be huge boxes of free cornflakes and frosties for all students (Horrah!). No boxes in reception, must be somewhere else, possibly in the Kellogg Room?? Will ask Nicole later. Being a business school discover the folk are all about my age which is nice so do not feel like grandpa.
Nicole and I hunt for a costume for Halloween the next day, Halloween is really huge in the states
Nicole and I then go on an architectural tour of the city the next day (with raging hang overs), tour is actually quite fascinating, Chicago is a hodge podge of various building types that are all spectacular in their own way, I take a ridiculous amount of pictures. Also go to the top of the third tallest building the world - The building formerly known as the Sears Tower (has a kind of Prince thing going for it now due to a contractual issue that allowed the name change of the building, which I won´t mention, because ít is kind of silly changing the name, especially since new name is now followed by "the building formerly known as Sears" in brackets). The tower itself is incredible, the view amazing and a special glass room that is build into it allows you to look down the side of the building right down to the ground, actually does get your heart rate up! Love it.
I find the people in Chicago really fun, friendly and open. Seem to be able to relax fully in this city so get a lot of battery recharging done, especially enjoyed just sitting on the couch watching t.v. one night, seems like a long lost forgotten pleasure. Spend a lot of time shopping, need new t-shirts. Spend a lot of time looking for Kellogg room, need Frosties.
Nicole treats me to some classic world famous Chicago pizza. Imagine the opposite of thin crust, take that thought and multiply the thickness by ten then add more cheese, top that cheese with more cheese. Pizza is like a pie, a huge crazy ass cheese pie pretending to be a pizza. I am a pizza, no way fat boy you are a pie, pizza! nope pie! Relent that pie in disguise is in fact world famous Chicago pizza. Very tasty, way too tasty, perhaps best that I am leaving to go to Mexico before I turn into a pie (sorry pizza)
