Where I stayed
John had a reservation at 1000 Lakes RV Park that was a whole 10 minutes from Capital Reef. It is in the town of Torrey. It was in the 40's when we arrived at about 10:30 AM, and I didn't want to spend the day sitting inside the RV, so we canceled our reservation and decided to drive just a little further
As we traveled north we kept checking the travel books and the GPS for a good place (and later just a decent place) to stay. Emery, Castledale, Huntington, surely in Price, Helper, Duchesne, Roosevelt, all the way to Vernal. We couldn't believe our luck. I did not want to get that close to home. But, we did find a great place at the KOA in Vernal. In fact, we were the only overnighters. We pretty much had the whole park to ourselves. They have a wonderful park. They have travel trailers set up for rent, cabins in several sizes, nice rest rooms and showers, cable TV, plenty of spaces for RVs, a pool (not open), a playground and even go carts.
But we were sure pooped. We even passed on cooking dinner and went out. Vernal is a nice little town. They seem to be growing. I can see why.
I gave John and Stacey a call and asked if it was a good time to come for a visit. I figured we could extend at least one more night and I was glad to have the opportunity to stay with the kids and see their newly remodel kitchen. They do such great work. Those two are quite a team. So, tomorrow we will drive to Cedar Springs Marina, about an hour away, and spend one more night on the road at a very special place.
